Hampton United have hosted their inaugural Ladies’ Day High Tea Lunch at Sillitoe Reserve.
Around twenty-five guests attended the event, enjoying a spread of cakes and sandwiches along with a few drinks at the club rooms and under the shade of the Hampton United marquee.
Everyone enjoyed the social atmosphere, enjoying great company, and watching the 2nd XI play out in the middle against Omega.
Guest speaker, and Our Watch and White Ribbon ambassador Tarang Chawla, gave an emotional and highly-engaging speech about his work and Nikita’s story, prompting a lengthy question & answer session following.
Event organiser Rowan Doyle was pleased about how the event played out. "For me I thought it was an excellent day, really great to see all the ladies recognised and enjoying a day dedicated to them. I think Tarang was an excellent choice of speaker and really prompted some good discussion amongst the ladies." he said.
"For our first ever ladies day we had a great turnout and I think the ladies are already looking forward to next years event which will hopefully only get bigger and better. We were very lucky with the weather as the rain poured down right as we were finishing tidying up the tables."
A special mention to Rowan Doyle who organised the running of the event. Melissa Cafarella, Hampton United’s first female committee member, was appropriately the Master of Ceremonies, doing a fantastic job. Thanks must also go to the committee members, players and others who helped make the event possible.
